Lucas PS Staff

Our vision is to empower all students to achieve their best, promoting high quality learning and teaching and excellence in all areas.

We provide an engaging and challenging curriculum that caters for the needs of all learners within a positive, inclusive and supportive learning community. Our aim is for all students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to achieve success in learning and life. We value and promote strong home-school partnerships and connections with the wider community.

All practices reflect our school values of respect, responsibility, excellence and growth.

The school features state of the art facilities including two learning community buildings, a Performing Arts and Physical Education facility, Specialist Pavilion for Visual Arts and administration building. A strong focus is placed on the core areas of literacy and numeracy.  Specialist subjects are offered in PE, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Japanese.

The school has been master planned to allow for a peak enrolment of 475 students in the future.  The enrolment in 2023 is 345 students. It is expected that numbers will continue to grow over the next few years.

We look forward to welcoming your child and family into the Lucas Primary School learning community.

The logo concept is based on the school’s focus on maximising learning growth for all students. The tree symbolises growth in learning and the growth of our school and our community. It also recognises the significant contribution made by the Lucas Girls in planting trees for the Ballarat Avenue of Honour. The lines represent the growing branches and trunk of a tree.
In combination with the three outlined egg shapes, the tree branches can be seen as stylised children learning, playing and growing together. The figures also represent the child, parent and teacher working together to support growth.

The curving lines and floating shapes give the logo a sense of fun, life and movement.
